seasons greetings

The fact that I have continued to walk to and run back from work may qualify me for insanity, given the current state of snow, slush, and fog (the cold has dissipated it seems, as of this morning)--and not to mention the rain yesterday evening. Yet somehow the thought of exercising in the confines of a gym, where the space is crowded, the air stale, and the lighting unnatural, seems unappealing. Fortunately, as of now, the sidewalks have been mostly cleared of precipitation, presumably by the pleasant increase in temperature.

Which is to say: snow finally materialized this past weekend. Beautiful, authentic, winter-time snow. Its arrival prompted the following series of events: a slushy (I may even say "murky") drive to some unintended destination far past New Haven, the dispensation of my car at a sketchily-located towing company due to a city-wide "snow emergency" proclamation, the peevish drive home only slightly assuaged by the blanched scenic surroundings, and the avowal to never drive ever again (never ever). Regardless of transportation travails, the snow has finally provided a demarcation of seasonality that will make the advent of spring all the more delightful.

And it also allows for some stunning photography (not my own):
